This jungle lodge provides one of the best access to Belize´s most remarkable Maya ruin, the mighty city of Caracol, and all the other natural wonders of the mystical Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve.
Birders marvel at the amazing avifauna diversity found around the lodge, within the Mountain Pine Ridge, and throughout the jungles surrounding Caracol. Or, if you simply want to indulge in the natural surroundings, slip away in the jungle and find a nice shady spot for a private dip under a waterfall.
The lodge uses the freshest ingredients from its organic gardens throughout its 103-acre jungle property. Basil, mango, papaya, pineapple, akee, lime, lemon, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, ginger, soup sop, star fruit, lettuce, beans, tomato, habanero peppers, cashews, coconut, plantain, banana, and Barbados cherries just to name a few! Served family-style, meals combine fresh Belizean ingredients to create a unique fusion of Mexican, French, Italian, American, Jamaican and Belizean tastes catering to all palates including vegetarian and other dietary restrictions.
Accommodations
After a hearty meal, slip away into your own private cottage. Each private cottage has been tastefully built to harmonize with our natural surroundings and afford our guests with the best views possible for observing the life around them in the forest. The cottages are beautifully decorated with Mayan and Caribbean art and Guatemalan fabrics and adorned with hand painted, artistic interpretations of Mayan glyphs. Vibrant crafts and artwork including pottery and slate carvings from nearby Guatemala enliven the inside of the cottages. Plentiful orchids throughout the area add color to the lodge's accommodations and enchant the landscape. Accommodations include six cottages in three distinct styles:
The Riverview Cottages overlook the Little Vaqueros creek with screened-in porches and hammocks.
The Mayan Cottages are large native-style freestanding cottages, built with materials gathered from the forest, including thatched roofs.
The Forest View Cottage enjoys the sound of our bubbling river, the Little Vaqueros Creek, and a breathtaking vista of the surrounding forest.
