Placencia Beach

Placencia & Hopkins – these coastal areas offer a unique mix of jungle and island experiences.  Resorts range from budget to moderate and a few more luxury resorts.  These areas are not as developed as San Pedro, although there are several restaurants, bars and gift shops available.  Keep in mind however that the reef sits several miles out and jungle excursions are usually full days including travel time. Whale Shark congregations from March through July attract many divers and Placencia & Hopkins are the best locations to arrange your dive trip.

Toledo – this southernmost district is the most remote and least developed although you can find luxury all inclusive resorts even here.  Attracting the heaviest rainfall in the entire country – the result is a lush rainforest filled with wildlife.  Attractions include Snake Caye, Nim Li Punit, Lubaantun, Blue Creek Cave, and Chocolate!  Municipal flights are the recoomended method of travel since Toldeo is 5 hours by vehicle from the International Airport.
